Temperature: below zero
Weather: Snowy, but holiday spirity
Dear Reader,
This is my last entry as part of the Energy Dare Initiative, and it has been a fun month of energy awareness! I hope that you enjoyed my entries and have taken away something from this blog as I have done with this initiative.
I have some unfortunate news though. This weekend was the first weekend with snow on the roads, and in my assessment of the conditions, it probably wouldn’t be safe for me to ride through the winter. I live close enough to campus for me to walk, and on colder days, I will be using transit. The bike lanes were for the most part iced over which forced me to jockey for space with cars in the car lanes. So away with the bicycle when the snow hits! But when the road conditions are fine, I will be bringing out the bike again.
Feel free to visit this site at your leisure, as I will continue to maintain it. If you haven’t done so, I would encourage you to participate in Trish’s dare, and see how far you can stretch your comfort zone! But for now, bye bye!

Weather: Light Snow
Dear Reader,
It has been a while since I last wrote, and I apologize for the delay. This has been a busy, albeit eventful, week. As the week comes to an end, I find myself with a little more free time, and thus luxury to type away on this blog.
I have held true to many of my commitments this month (I had to give up my laundry commitment owing to a limitation in space available to dry my clothing), and I understand that my one month participation in this energy dare effort is drawing near. Does this mean that I’ll be reverting back to my old ways? Well, no. The Effort has made me more conscientious of my energy usage and I intend on maintaining many of the habits that I’ve developed over the past month. It wouldn’t be enough for me to merely commit for just one month, as I see myself gracing this earth for many many more months. This is a life time effort – an effort to modify our habits to lessen our detrimental effects on a shared environment – and I am quite glad to have been a part of this initial Effort.
Though it is a lot colder during this time of year, I will still be continuing with many of my outdoor activities. It’s time to enjoy myself at the rink, whether it’s public skating or pick up hockey, and the wind as it tries to penetrate my armour of winter apparel. A breath of the chilly air helps clear my thoughts and replenish the energy that I so often squander over my work at LM.
So it’s late again, and here I go into the wind. Night folks.
